Helping Someone Quit
You can play an important part in supporting someone to quit.
Making the decision to quit is a big one. If you are supporting someone to quit, it's important that you recognise that the person has to want to quit, not because of the pressure placed on them by family or friends.
You can support someone by assisting them in making the decision to quit, and providing encouragement when he or she has stopped smoking.
Understand the four steps to quitting and support your friend or family member as they move through the process.
Keep in mind that not everyone is successful in their first quit attempt but the more attempts they make; the more likely they are to succeed.
